Turbo-Detection for Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution

چکیده

 Turbo-detection applies the “turboprinciple” to iterative equalization and decoding of data transmitted via frequency selective channels. The performance of turbo-detection strongly depends on the ISI (Intersymbol Interference) introduced by the modulator and the waveform channel. In order to achieve higher data rates within GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), 8PSK modulation will be used for future GSM services called EDGE (Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution). The pulse shaping filter introduces strong intersymbol interference reducing the reliability of data detection. In this work it will be shown how turbo-detection can be adopted to 8-PSK modulation. Furthermore, simulation results demonstrate the benefits of turbo-detection for EDGE in Rayleigh fading environments.

Iterative Equalization and Decoding for theGSM {

In iterative equalization and decoding (\turbo-detection") the \turbo{principle" is used for detection of coded data transmitted over a frequency selective channel. Due to the burst and interleaver structure the turbo-detection scheme cannot be adopted to the GSM without modiications. We present some possibilities to adopt turbo detection to TDMA systems with inter-block-interleaving like GSM a...

Turbo equalization receivers for evolved GSM/EDGE radio access network using QAM modulation

For evolution of the GSM/EDGE radio access network (RAN), the use of higher order modulation like 16and 32-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is considered in standardization for increased peak data rates and reduced transmission delays. In this paper, an optimized receiver design for different packet data transmission schemes is proposed. Turbo coding and turbo equalization is discussed...

A Novel Reduced Complexity Forward-Backward Equalization Algorithm

The complexity of channel equalization using the BCJR algorithm grows exponentially with the channel memory and signal cardinality. In this paper we present a novel reduced complexity equalization algorithm where independent forward and backward trellises are formed based on decision feedback sequence estimation (DFSE) idea. Performance of the new equalizer algorithm is evaluated for turbo equa...

Turbo Coded Modulation over Gsm Channels

The supply of high data rates is a major goal of the communication industry. Towards this goal one solution is to use high level modulation combined with powerful coding. We propose a turbo-coded high-level modulation system (16/32/64-QAM) for the downlink that could be used for example in the future evolution of the EGPRS. The evaluation of such a system over the GSM channels is performed thro...

CONVOLUTIONAL APPROACH FOR DECODING FEC IN LTE AND WiMAX SYSTEMS THROUGH UBP ALGORITHM

Forward Error correcting Codes (FEC) is a technique used for controlling errors in data transmission over unreliable or noisy communication channels. This scheme is overhead in many wireless communication systems, even though they have enhanced data rates for the GSM evolution (EDGE), because, worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) and long term evolution (LTE) have adopted low...
